ABSTRACT
Estuarine ecosystems rely on plankton colonies, which are important parts of aquatic food webs and principal producers, to keep things running smoothly. Using data collected from four different sites, this study analysed the phytoplankton and zooplankton populations' richness, seasonal distribution, and the factors that affect their habitat. We analysed plankton quantity and diversity together with important physicochemical characteristics during pre-monsoon, monsoon, and post-monsoon sampling seasons. These results provide important information for the conservation of biodiversity, ecological monitoring, and sustainable management of the Indian Sundarbans in the face of changing environmental conditions, and they highlight the ecological importance of plankton as sensitive bioindicators of environmental quality.
